Shell Reports 54% Rise In Profit

At the fuel cards industry news, Shell’s reported earnings come as a pleasant surprise. As Shell announced its 2011 results on Thursday, it reported $US28.6 billion revenues for the full year. This marks a 54% rise in Shell’s revenues over the last year, and makes for a case of celebration on account of above-average revenues.

Shell continues to display an aggressive marketing plan and intends to spend $30 million on 60 different projects that are being directed towards efforts at finding newer oil exploration fields across the globe. Shell’s earnings also come after BP’s oil leak fiasco that costed it billions of dollars.

As per Shell’s analysis, the long term trend for oil looks weak and oil prices are likely to drop very soon. While the downside cannot be predicted, it is mentioned that $70 will provide strong support to global oil prices. However, at $98 as of now, it would be a very big move south if the prices were to settle in the $70 range.

Shell expects the cash flow to be in the range of $175-200 billion against the premise that oil prices will continue to be over $80 a barrel.
